Unilever has been awarded the title of Sustainable Manufacturing winner while global tyre manufacturer, Michelin, was awarded the title of Business Process Improvement winner.
Michelin beat competition from finalists Rio Tinto, Alcan, Tarmac, Georgia Pacific and Coca-Cola to be awarded the award for process improvements which recognised significant cost savings achieved through the proactive management of the maintenance spares supply chain.
Ian Ritchie, Managing Director of Brammer UK, explains: “This was an extremely competitive category, as a broad range of projects were considered, including those customer sites operating within a Brammer Insite.
“Across Michelin’s three UK manufacturing plants, Brammer has proven the long term benefits of the Insite service, by helping to maximise uptime while continuing to deliver vendor reduction and material standardisation. This has resulted in working capital savings of more than £200,000 – in the last year alone.”
The Business Process Improvement award was presented to Bob Wilcox, Head of Purchasing at Michelin. The Sustainable Manufacturing award was presented to Helen Hunt, Supply Manager – Engineering & Technical, at Unilever.
