Airbus has secured an order from US-based aircraft leasing firm CIT Aerospace for five A330s.

The deal was announced today at the Farnborough International Airshow by Jeffrey Knittel, president of transportation finance at CIT and Fabrice Brégier, the new CEO of Airbus.

The new agreement for five A330s adds to the five already agreed, bringing the total number of A330s ordered from CIT to 51, with the first deliveries scheduled to begin in 2014.

Jeffrey Knittel said: “This order further expands our aircraft portfolio and it will help us meet our customers’ need for reliable aircraft and while providing the operating economics that they demand.”

With this new order, the company now has a total order book of 162 aircraft scheduled for delivery to 2019, of which 89 are for Airbus aircraft.

Airbus also announced this morning that Hong Kong-based China Aircraft Leasing Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to purchase 36 current generation A320s.
