New software to help businesses improve robotic efficiency

Siemens PLM Software launched RobotExpert, a new robotic simulation and programming software for small and medium size manufacturers that helps minimise downtime and increase throughput for shop floor robots.

The solution supports industry applications such as pick-and-place, arc welding, polishing and gluing, by enabling the design, simulation, optimisation and offline programming of robotic applications.

According to Siemens PLM Software, it can be used to meet specific manufacturing needs, supporting faster product introduction as well as early evaluation of manufacturing times, costs and project investments.

Industrial robots are traditionally programmed manually, which often results in production downtime and non-optimised robot programmes.

Zvi Feuer, senior vice president, Manufacturing Engineering Software, Siemens PLM Software, said: “Manufacturers, big and small, are under a great deal of pressure to maximise return on capital investment, and production line automation provides an excellent opportunity to help increase efficiency.

We have taken more than two decades of experience delivering robotic solutions for some of the most complex applications and created a solution that will help companies across industries to build better products by making smarter manufacturing decisions.”
