SaaS ERP and why this deployment option was attractive to a growing manufacturer

Tom Carpenter CEO m2fx
Tom Carpenter, CEO, m2fx

As a small manufacturing company grows there comes a stage when managing the business on excel spread sheets impacts customers and inhibits growth. However, many SMEs when faced with this situation find the step to move to full ERP solution intimidating and prohibitively expensive. SaaS ERP can be the answer, giving the small manufacturer a scalable and cost effective, yet powerful ERP solution.

In early 2011 m2fx found itself in this situation. Tom Carpenter, CEO of m2fx, will take you through the journey his company took to make the decision to implement SaaS ERP, the choices, the implementation and 18 months later the reality of living with a full SaaS ERP solution.

Creating an upgrade process which minimises risk and organisational impact

Gideon Tester, Business Systems Manager, Altro Ltd
Gideon Tester, Business Systems Manager, Altro Ltd

In the current economic climate where businesses are increasingly running more lean on human resources how can you manage and deliver complex ICT projects and balance the implementation risks against the impact on business resources?

In 2012 Altro successfully upgraded its core ERP system JDEdwards from Xe to v9 across its UK business. The project plan had to accommodate many different technical factors including significant changes in technology, highly bespoke operational processes and a jump of seven versions of the application.

This presentation seeks to highlight some of the decisions made to create a plan which delivered the technical project with as little risk as possible but which also did not require disruptively high levels of business resourcing.

ERP Implementation – The Never-Ending Story

Jude Photo
Jude Nash, IT & ERP Development Manager, Anglo – Krempel

Why did we start?
In 2006 Anglo recognised the main business system – Tetra CS3 was not collecting or providing sufficient data for effective business management in a manufacturing environment.

What did we do?
Anglo searched the marketplace for a robust ERP system capable of meeting current and future business needs.  A project to implement the system followed with ‘Go Live’ taking place in August 2008.

What did we find?
Anglo found that achieving the full potential of an ERP system doesn’t end with implementation.  Development and growth of the system are essential for business.

What does it mean?
A constant focus on learning and development.  Analysis of the system and business - adopting a ‘best of both’ attitude and an enthusiasm for positive and continuous change.

Knowledge and skills audience will be able to take away following this presentation:

The methodology which led Anglo to a successful ERP implementation project, the areas of consideration and initiatives for success. Update on how Anglo will continue to capitalise on the investment in the ERP system.

Your ERP upgrade is not an IT Project it is a business project

SONY DSC
Keith Herring, Head of Information Technology, Hayward Tyler Ltd

Keith will speak about Hayward Tyler’s experience of upgrading its ERP software and how this was planned and executed.

Hayward Tyler took this as an opportunity to revisit its business processes and remap them to suit its new structure, which had changed during the upgrade as part of a wider business strategy. This involved using the company’s main business system for all data wherever possible, therefore delivering what the company needed in only one interface and reducing the need for multiple systems which gave similar information.

Keith will speak about how they implemented a Continuous Improvement programme for information delivery to the manufacturing and office areas. This provides real time data for scheduling and departmental KPI’s. He will also reflect about how they set up processes to feedback ‘viruses’ in the database that contained incorrect data which caused misinformation.
