Implementation of the five basic Lean principles to improve the flow of value is the core focus of a Lean deployment.
During this workshop you will:

• Develop an understanding on how to 'see the flow'
• Understand the principles of value stream mapping
• Understand what makes a value stream lean value stream
• How to create a future state with less waste
• How to develop an implementation plan to achieve the future state.

Creating flow at cell/line level is essential to create a baseline standard from which improvement can be made. GKN uses ‘six enablers’ as a framework for employee involvement teams to drive flow improvements.
During this workshop you will:

• Review the tools and techniques used at GKN to create flow at cell/line level (standard work, lost time analysis, visual management, autonomous maintenance, 5S, kaizen events)
• Carry out an actual assessment and waste review on a work cell in GKN Walsall
• Learn how to implement one enabler step by step

Seventy per cent of a company’s waste is hidden within a company’s supporting business processes. Learn how GKN is driving towards being truly lean enterprise by improving all of its business processes at mega, macro and micro level.
During this workshop you will:

• Discuss mega, macro and micro level business process improvement
• Review tools and techniques used in GKN to improve Business Processes
• Carry out a scoping and business process mapping.

Employee involvement is the cornerstone to any successful lean enterprise. In this interactive session you can hear how GKN is developing the system tools and skills to sustain and drive forward the benefits of lean. During this workshop you will:

• Review Employee involvement systems and EI tools
• Practically assess and discuss where you are with employee involvement
• Develop leadership standard work
• Practical Exercise on developing an employee involvement system.
