Marconi’s challenge continues

Marconi today underlined the scale of the challenge it faces in returning to a stable financial condition by reporting a further deterioration in sales in its core network communications business.
The troubled UK telecommunications equipment maker said in the three months to 30 September core sales had declined by 6 per cent to £482m, from £510m in the previous fourth quarter of 2002, in the face of worsening market conditions.
