Corus steps closer to sale

The Anglo-Dutch group Corus announced today that it had provisionally agreed to sell the majority of its aluminium assets to Pechiney of France.

The deal, worth 861m euros, forms part of Corus’s plans to leave the aluminium market by the end of 2002 to concentrate on its carbon steel business instead.
