Patricia Hewitt, the trade and industry secretary, has voiced concern over sexist Motor Show posters covering many of London’s billboards.
The posters consist of a scantily dressed woman along with the words “the other way to your man’s heart is down the M6 and off at junction four”. Ms Hewitt spotted the posters while driving through London and was disgusted by such “old fashioned rubbish”. According to the Time, Ms Hewitt said yesterday: “We all know that sex sells, but haven’t we got past ‘boys with toys’? … Anyone who cares about the industry should support the show, but I think their advertisers have made a big mistake.”
