The Swiss-Swedish engineering company, ABB, has announced it’s been in talks with numerous banks to extend the deadline for repaying $1 billion (£641 million).
The repayment deadline of December 17 will only be met by ABB if the sale of its finance arm to General Electric is approved by regulators. The company is also selling assets to meet debts totalling $3.7 billion.
