Volkswagen, Europe’s largest car manufacturer, is keeping its 2002 profits target despite an abrupt downturn in its third quarter performance.
According to the company the upturn in the first half of the year has not been maintained due to slow growth in the US and Japan. Pre-tax profits in the third quarter fell by nearly 48 per cent to £449 million from the same period last year.
