A new method for making cars fully recyclable is under development in the UK.
Car manufacturers currently choose polypropylene reinforced with glass fibre to produce bumpers and other car parts. The combination of both glass and polypropylene makes it impossible to recycle but scientists in London have created an alternative which leaves out the glass reinforcement. Samples of the tougher and greener polypropylene are being trialled by manufacturers.
