September output falls but quarter is up

Manufacturing output in the latest quarter to the end of September rose by 1.1 per cent compared with the previous quarter.
There were significant rises in output of 4.9 per cent in the transport equipment industries, 2.5 per cent in the paper, printing and publishing industries and 2.0 per cent in the chemicals industries. Between August and September, manufacturing output fell by 0.4 per cent. There was a significant fall of 5.0 per cent in the transport equipment industries due to a fall-back in motor vehicles production from the very high August level.
