Inflation creeping upwards

The annual rate of inflation (excluding mortgage interest payments) reached 2.3 per cent in October, against 2.1 per cent the previous month, according to the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

The figure is still below the Bank of England's target rate of 2.5 per cent, but there is concern over the upward trend which is predicted to take it over 2.5 per cent before the end of the year.
