Cap Gemini cuts jobs to reduce costs

Cap Gemini Ernst and Young, Europe’s largest computer services company, yesterday announced 700 jobs cuts in the UK.

The cuts are a result of the turbulent IT services market and come after 3500 other job losses at the organisation during the first six months of 2002. Directors of Cap Gemini had hoped for a business upturn in the second half of this year but that now looks set to occur next year at the earliest.
