Land Rover, has been experiencing problems since taking on Caterpillar Logistics for the distribution of spare parts to dealers. Parts availability has fallen from 95 per cent to 88 per cent, and this has led to complaints from the dealer associations.
Land Rover, had been due to switch from Unipart to Caterpillar in March, in a deal which would enable the car maker to retain a higher proportion of the highly profitable parts sales. The move was delayed by six months, and eventually went ahead in September.
Land Rover’s difficulties echo similar problems experienced by MG Rover which forced the car manufacturer to suspend car production for a week this summer to free up components for garages.
