The south of England has again been confirmed as the financial and business centre of the country.
A survey of more than 100,000 towns and villages by business information company Experian showed that 36 of the top 50 profit-making towns in the country were in the south east.
Experian uses small to medium enterprises (SMEs) to measure profitability as they comprise 95 per cent of the total business community in the UK. "Their profitability provides a major indication of the state of the UK economy and is a key contributing factor to local economic regeneration, growth and employment," said Experian managing director Phil Cotter.
