The European aerospace success story that has seen the four-nation Airbus consortium outpace its bitter US rival Boeing continued this week with an order from Mauritius and a delivery to the Ukrain.
Air Mauritius signed a firm purchase agreement with Airbus for three A340-300Es, with deliveries to begin in the last quarter of 2006. The contract covers also two further options on the same type. With the acquisition of this new generation aircraft, Air Mauritius will be the first all-Airbus operator in the South Indian Ocean region.
Meanwhile, Donbassaero Airlines, a Ukrainian carriers, took delivery its first Western-built aircraft into its fleet, an Airbus A320. The Donetsk-based airline, which will operate the aircraft under an operational lease agreement, also becomes the sixth operator of the A320 Family aircraft in the CIS.
