Having come through an exceptionally long recession, the 600 Group is now starting to see an improvement in overall market demand.
Despite depressed market conditions, the 600 Group’s underlying order intake has increased by five per cent, but is still below the Group's optimal level. The resulting profit before tax improved from £0.2 million to £1.6 million and the improvement in gross profit improved from 25 per cent to 27 per cent due principally to the changes in business and product mix.
Accordingly, to chairman Michael Wright: “Our priority during the current year will be to continue the transition to a Group focused increasingly on organic growth, concentrating our efforts on the expansion and exploitation of the new sources of supply and the use of our extensive international presence to develop improved marketing initiatives, especially in new growth markets.”
