The administrators of ITV Digital are expected to meet executives from the Independent Television Commission today to discuss how best to sell the loss-making business.
ITV Digital went into administration last month owing £178.5m to the Football League in television broadcasting rights.
Administrators from Deloitte & Touche are now hoping to sell the operation off as a going concern as quickly as possible. The move follows failed attempts to renegotiate the broadcaster's deals with the Football League to keep its head above water.
ITV Digital, which broadcasts a digital signal through conventional TV antennae, failed to attract the anticipated number of subscribers, and was hit by a sharp downturn in advertising spending last year. Audiences for its expensive Football League broadcasts failed to meet expectations.
