In a possible £5 billion takeover deal, Severn Trent is the key focus of a group of private equity firms.
According to reports, the water company is under observation from such companies as KKR and Apollo Management. Reports indicate that the private equity firms are looking to purchase Severn Trent before completing the public offering of it Biffa waste business.
If the bid proves to be true and is successful, Biffa would be retained and the company sold to an infrastructure player interested in the water sector, according to reports.
The water company currently serves eight million customers from Wales to the Humber Estuary, and has a stock market value of £4.4 billion.
