Eaton Electrical provides businesses with the means to take control of their power supply. Julia Smith reports
Electrical power lies at the heart of everything a company does. A safe, reliable and cost effective power supply is fundamental to the success of just about every industrial enterprise. When supplies are interrupted unexpectedly, the impact on a business can be devastating.
Eaton Electrical, part of the Eaton Corporation, is dedicated to helping clients get the most out of their power supply. A long process of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances and marketing agreements has seen Eaton emerge as one of the world’s leading suppliers of electrical control products and power distribution equipment. With no fewer than 57 manufacturing sites across the world, it is a truly global business. However, here in the UK, Eaton is best known for four of its brands. As far as electrical contractors are concerned, Bill, Cutler-Hammer, MEM and MEM 250 are all familiar and trusted names.
Eaton’s message is clear. The great majority of power failures are the result of internal and wholly preventable failures. Companies need to wake up to the need to manage the power supply to their plant more effectively and Eaton provides the vital equipment needed to fulfil that objective. The company’s core control and automation equipment range, which includes contactors and motor starters, variable speed drives, sensors and microprocessor-based control and protection devices, is designed to optimise performance on the factory floor.
In 2005, Eaton went a step further with the launch of PowerChain Management solutions. This strategy brings all of Eaton’s electrical brands under one roof to function as a one-stop shop, meeting all possible customer requirements from a single source.
The new product range has been keenly received in the marketplace. Last year alone, Eaton Electrical was able to grow its market share by almost 10 per cent and the launch of PowerChain Management solutions has provided a major impetus to sales.
It was also cited as one of the deciding factors by Frost & Sullivan when Eaton picked up the prestigious Frost & Sullivan Power Quality Company of the Year Award for the third consecutive year. The criteria are far-ranging and include demonstrating outstanding management, consistent growth, high-quality products and services as well as a positive social and economic impact on local and national communities.
“I’d like to thank the entire Electrical Group for making this award possible,” said Randy Carson, Eaton’s senior vice president and president of the Electrical Group. “Achievements like this take more than strategy. Our employees are demonstrating the traits of a true world class team.”
