A retired policeman has made a stand against the move of HP Sauce’s Birmingham factory by barricading himself on the roof of the Aston Cross site.
Impersonating John Bull, Ray Egan managed to breach security at the site, draping banners and flags around the building in a bid to show his concern for British industry.
Despite his efforts, he has admitted that he doesn’t expect to alter the plans to move the site to the Netherlands, but does want his voice to be heard.
According to reports he said: “The point I am making is that we are losing a British icon. I am sick of the industries we are losing and direct action is what’s needed in this country.”
