Contract electronics manufacturer ACW Technology has opened a new manufacturing plant in China to cut customer costs while still providing a UK sales base.
The new plant will be managed through its UK-based facility to help customers reduce the risks and communication challenges usually associated with moving offshore.
A new product introduction phase will be carried out at ACW's headquarters in Southampton with products then moving over to the China facility for manufacturing once established.
ACW's managing director, Owen Reeves said: "This strategic investment enables us to meet the demands of UK customers for competitive pricing, without exposing them to the usual risks of outsourcing to remote developing countries. The combination of a low-cost Asian manufacturing facility, with full back-up from the facilities and processes available in the UK, provides a platform to maintain and develop relationships with key customers and ensure future growth."
