PHARMACEUTICAL: Deal
Anglo-Swedish drugs maker, AstraZeneca, has reached a deal to buy MedImmune, a US biotech company. The £7.8 billion cash deal should boost AstraZeneca’s new product pipeline following a series of high profile failures of drugs in the late stage of development last year.
MedImmune is expected fit well with Cambridge Antibody Technology, acquired last August by AstraZeneca for £580 million, and will boost the company’s presence in biotech medicines.
