Imperial Leather-maker, PZ Cussons has announced new plans to close the UK final salary pension scheme, but investment in UK manufacturing continues.
In an interim management statement, PZ Cussons has warned that it will be closing its final salary pension arrangements from 31st May 2008, saying that the move would not only protect the company from rising costs but would also be part of a more modern global remuneration structure.
Performance of the UK business continues to be reassuringly strong across the portfolio of the Imperial Leather, Original Source, Carex, Charles Worthington and Morning Fresh brands. The Charles Worthington range is also performing well following the roll-out of the brand to the nationwide trade last year.
Cussons is continuing with its investment into the UK market with the construction of a new purpose built liquids factory which will increase capacity to meet the expected long-term UK market demands. The factory will incorporate a new research and development centre and a fragrance development centre. Completion is planned for mid 2008.
