SSL International, which manufactures Durex condoms and Scholl footcare products, has announced plans to close its condom factory near Barcelona in Spain and its technical centre in Cambridge, UK.
SSL International, which manufactures Durex condoms and Scholl footcare products, has announced plans to close its condom factory near Barcelona in Spain and its technical centre in Cambridge, UK. Activities from the Cambridge site will be moved to the manufacturing facilities in Peterlee, and to Thailand and India, beginning in March 2008. The company already manufactures from three locations in India and one in Thailand, and the move is aimed at bringing the manufacturing and technical capabilities closer to each other. This should accelerate the process of bringing new product innovations to market, the company said. All manufacturing from Spain will be moved to India and Thailand.
