MANUFACTURING: Refurbished landmark industrial building to house machine tool maker

Birmingham’s iconic Fort Dunlop is to be the new home of machine tool maker MAG Cincinnati, formerly Cincinnati Machine.

The historic industrial building was originally home to Dunlop Tires, which employed 12,000 workers during its heyday.

Following major investment in the building after 25 years of stagnation, MAG Cincinnati will be combining a new permanent headquarters with facilities for MAG IAS group, MAG Powertrain (Cross Hüller, Ex-Cell-O and Lamb) and the cross-group support business MAG Maintenance Technologies, as well as providing administrative support to all branches of the company.

Neil Mantle, managing director of MAG IAS UK operations, said: “Fort Dunlop is an iconic building in Birmingham, symbolising the regeneration of our industrial heartland. It is an ideal home for a business that has taken the strengths and heritage of some of the best respected names in the machine tool industry and created an environment where they can flourish in the future.”
