Aggreko, Aggreko goes to Spain

The supplier of temporary power, temperature control and oil-free compressed air services has established a base in Barcelona through the acquisition of the business and trading assets of Compressores Esteve. Although the value of the acquisition was small, it will provide Aggreko with an base from which to develop the Spanish market.
The British International Freight Association's top award went to Laser Transport International at this year's freight service awards ceremony in London on 17 January. The gold trophy was awarded by award sponsor, Maersk Sealand, and was for Laser's deep sea and multimodal activities.
A first for the Middle East. Rockwell Automation has supplied an IRD transportable balancing machine with light machining attachment to the Israel Electric Corporation for balancing and machining critical power generation turbines on site. This is the first machine system of its type in the Middle East.
Metal working machine tool exports for January to September 2001 were up by 10 per cent over the value for the same period on 2000 while imports fell by 2 per cent, according to figures issued by the MTTA. Exports of CNC machine tools were increased by 14 per cent during that same period, and imports fell by 6 per cent.
Congestion charging for trucks and vans in central London will have almost zero effect on congestion according to the Freight Transport Association in a submission to Transport for London. The vehicles are engaged in essential delivery and service work with no alternative means available. A charge of £5 per vehicle per day will place an enormous cost on trade and industry together with the inconvenience and cost of administration.
