Government reveals millions spent on MG Rover inquiry

Enterprise Minister Stephen Timms has admitted to the House of Commons that the government-led inquiry into the collapse of automotive manufacturer MG Rover cost a massive £10 million.
The revelation came in response to a written parliamentary question posed by Austin Mitchell, Labour MP for Great Grimsby.
In addition to the total cost, Timms also quoted disbursements of £425,596.
The government had called in fraud and insolvency specialists to help with the inquiry when the Birmingham-based firm folded, causing 6,000 workers to lose their jobs.
