Burberry chiefs will face MPs over plans to move production to China.
The designer clothing label announced last year plans to close its Treorchy plant in south Wales, prompting a campaign to save jobs and keep the factory open. Burberry workers have been told that the plant will be closed in March with production transferring to China.
The campaign to keep production in the UK has forced Burberry board members to face a parliamentary committee to justify the company’s decision to move production overseas.
According reports, Leighton Andrews, the local AM for Rhondda, has said: "We are delighted that Burberry's bosses will be summoned before the House of Commons to justify their actions.
"We have always believed that the factory is profitable, and this will force Burberry to put figures on the table in public.”
