Caterpillar forms $1.5B alliance with BHP Billiton

Caterpillar, Inc. announced a contract with BHP Billiton to supply $1.5 billion in equipment and support over the next five years.
A global leader in mining, BHP Billiton already sources 80% of its equipment from Caterpillar. According to Ben Cordani, Caterpillar spokesperson, sales are expected to increase through the new alliance. As the largest agreement with a mining customer in history, Caterpillar will supply the company with equipment, product, and technical support.
