General Dynamics wins $16.3M submarine maintenance contract

General Dynamics’ Electric Boat subsidiary has been awarded a $16.3 million contract from the US Navy for planning and material procurement for the USS Springfield depot modernization period (DMP), a period which is comprised of repairs, alterations, maintenance, and routine submarine maintenance.
Electric Boat will be responsible for performing advanced planning, design, documentation, engineering, and preliminary shipyard work for the preparation stages of the DMP. The contract could be worth up to $26.3 million if all options are exercised.
