Testing solution reduces wireless appliance costs

A new wireless test solution from Agilent Technologies promises to allow wireless appliance manufacturers to accelerate production and decrease costs.

The product comprises a configured set of hardware (based on the industry-standard 8960 test set), a CDMA2000 and IS-95 test application, test manager software, and a wireless test fixture. Agilent's Al Schmidt, vice president of the wireless application product unit, says the product is easily deployed and can reduce test costs while speeding time to volume.

According to Agilent, the new test systems, N4051A and N4052A, are optimized for calibrating and tuning at the circuit-board level for final performance testing of assembled products. Both systems integrate the instrument hardware, software, and fixtures. A choice of fixtures provides solution connectivity and RF isolation for the appliance being tested.

The Agilent wireless test manager software includes ready to use tests, test plans, test sequencing, and menu-selectable hardware support for automation of the wireless device calibration and test processes. The product includes an integrated test development wizard designed to simplify software modifications and the addition of user-defined tests.
