Agilent Technologies, a leading US scientific instruments and analysis equipment manufacturer, announced it was looking for more business in Asia as it boosts its manufacturing production in the region and increases outsourcing.
Approximately 30% of its orders and revenue are from Asia, and it remains the company’s strongest growth area, said Edward Barnholt, chairman, at the opening of its $92 million facility in Singapore. Barnholt said shipments from Asia will pass 40% in the next year or two.
Barnholt said approximately 70% of the 4,000 job cuts announced last week would be from its US workforce, and the remaining 30% would be cut from its European operations.
