Hyundai Motor America and Kia Motors America have announced the formation of HK Logistics America (HKLA), based in Costa Mesa, Calif., to be responsible for total vehicle logistics management for the two companies.
Combined, the companies have 11 port operations, nine water ports, and two inland processing centers across eight US states. Over 700,000 vehicles will be imported by the companies in 2003, and over 1,200 dealerships will be serviced nationwide. HKLA’s initial project includes the consolidation of supply chain management for all North American logistics activities.
“Combining the volumes of Hyundai Motor America and Kia Motors America will allow for improved operational efficiencies, providing even greater service to the companies’ dealers,” said JE Lee, president and CEO of HK Logistics America.
