First Application of Microsoft’s .NET for Manufacturers

Made2Manage Systems has released a
version of its M2M VIP Enterprise Portal based entirely on Microsoft’s .NET framework. The XML Web Services support in .NET enabled Made2Manage to adopt a scalable architectural approach that combines the best aspects of a subscriber-based model with customer control of corporate data.

According to Microsoft’s John Montgomery, group product manager for the .NET developer platform, Made2Manage is one of the first companies to take advantage of the .NET framework to create a product for the manufacturing industry.

The new portal provides the Web application server on a subscription basis, while the business system and its data reside in the manufacturing facility. This is different from traditional hosted applications, which require the customer’s data to reside outside their facility. The new model allows manufacturers to monitor access, control database permissions, and ensure the integrity of their data while receiving benefits such as automatic application updates, instant availability of new applications, reduced application server costs, and a set of customer-centric applications.

“Using the .NET framework proves manufacturers with much faster performance,” says Made2Manage’s CTO, Gary Rush. “And future functionality can be coded and delivered much more quickly using Microsoft’s Visual Studio .NET development environment.”
