ProfitKey Merges MES with ERP

A recent contract between software provider ProfitKey and NuVisions Manufacturing is aimed at creating a paperless data flow system at the electronics manufacturer.

According to ProfitKey, the company's Rapid

Response Manufacturing system will incorporate ERP, MES, APS, and Internet-enabling technologies into an enterprise-wide system.

Our biggest challenge is generating real-time information for both our suppliers and our customers, says Steve Pudles, NuVisions's president. To enable us to respond in real time, we really need to become paperless, where data flows from our suppliers to our shop floor, and we can tell our customers the exact status of every order at any time. The MES portion of the system to be installed at NuVisions includes tools, facilities/asset management, statistical process control, quality control,

and gauge maintenance. The ERP portion comprises an executive information system, an Internet portal, and financial reporting.

Greg Gorbach, director of e-manufacturing for ARC Advisory Group, says, NuVisions¹s decision to couple MES and ERP is a bold step in both collecting information and providing it to the people who need it most. This solution provides a solid foundations for collaborative manufacturing, where the flow of information is as important as the products themselves.
