GM announces third major recall since January

In its second major recall announcement in four days, and its third in the last month, General Motors announced that it will recall 636,000 SUVs due to a faulty windshield-wiper module allowing water leaks that could damage electronics.

Two crashes have been reported as being caused by the damaged electronic components damaged due to the faulty wiper module. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

The recall includes 2002- and 2003-model SUVs Chevrolet Trailblazers and Trailblazer EXTs, Oldsmobile Bravadas, and GMC Envoys and Envoy XLs. Some Isuzu Ascenders, which GM builds, will also be recalled.

GM, the world’s largest automaker, on the heels of a massive January 824,000-car recall, announced earlier this month that it was recalling 1.8 million cars due to a problem with their ignition system that could potentially start fires.
