General Motors, the world’s largest automaker, announced that it was planning to recall more than four million of its pickup trucks due to replace faulty tailgate-support cables that could potentially corrode and break.
The recall affects late-model GMC Sierras, Chevrolet Silverados and Avalanches, and Cadillac Escalade EXTs.
3.7 million of the pickups were sold in the United States, with the rest sold in Canada and Mexico. 134 minor injuries were reported as due to the faulty cables, claimed the automaker, who will begin the recall later this year.
