Owens-Illinois appoints new CEO

Toledo, OH-based glass-container manufacturer Owens-Illinois announced today that it has appointed former DuPont executive Steven R. McCracken as its new president and chief executive officer.
McCracken had previously served as the president of Invista, a textile fiber division of DuPont. Invista, which had revenues of $7 billion in 2003 and more than 18,000 employees in 50 countries, is currently being sold to Koch Industries. McCracken, who had worked at DuPont for 30 years, will become the Owens-Illinois CEO effective April 1, 2004.
Owens-Illinois is the largest manufacturer of glass containers in North America, as well as in South America, Australia and New Zealand, and one of the largest in Europe. The company reported net sales of $6 billion for 2003.
