Goodyear reports decreased loss

The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, the world’s largest tire manufacturer, announced today it had lost $434.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2003, compared with a loss of $1.19 billion during the same period in 2002.
Sales increased 11.6 percent, to $3.91 billion, up from $3.51 billion in the same 2002 quarter.
In the full year of 2003, Goodyear lost $802.1 million, on sales of $15.1 billion. The company lost $1.21 billion, on sales of $13.9 billion, in 2002.
Goodyear manufactures tires, rubber products and chemicals in more than 85 facilities in 28 countries, and employs about 88,000 people.
