Flowers Foods returns to profit

Thomasville, GA-based Flowers Foods returned to a profit for its latest quarter, after a significant loss in the same quarter one year ago.
The company reported net income of $13.7 million for the first quarter, compared with a loss of $5.7 million in the same quarter last year.
The profit included $3.5 million for the sale of its Mrs. Smith's frozen desserts business to Schwan Food in April 2003.
