Commercial truck manufacturer Navistar International Corp. announced third quarter net income of $56 million compared to $18 million this time last year.

Commercial truck manufacturer Navistar International Corp. announced third quarter net income of $56 million compared to $18 million this time last year. Sales and revenue for the third quarter totaled $2.4 billion.

The maker of trucks, diesel engines, and school buses credits the Medicare prescription drug act of 2003 with reducing costs. Navistar has made plans to reduce manufacturing costs in the current fiscal year.
