Ford announces cut in production, drop in sales

The second-largest US automaker, Ford, announced that it would cutting its fourth-quarter North American production levels, setting them below levels for last year’s fourth quarter.
Ford said it would produce 830,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter of this year, down from 900,000 during the same quarter one year ago.
The automaker’s US sales fell 13 percent in August, and it will be cutting production in order to help sell off its unsold inventory.
