National Semiconductor profits, revenue up

National Semiconductor Corp. announced that profits for its first quarter were $117.7 million, up sharply from $29.7 million during the same period one year ago.
Revenue for the latest quarter jumped to $548 million, up from $424.8 million one year ago.
National Semiconductor makes analog-based semiconductor products, which include stand-alone devices and subsystems in the areas of power management, imaging, display drivers, audio, amplifiers and data conversion. The company reported sales of $1.98 billion for its most recent fiscal year.
