Brooks Software awarded multimillion-dollar contract by Taiwanese chip manufacturer

Brooks Software, a maker of real-time software applications for collaborative manufacturing operations, announced that Taiwanese chip maker Powerchip Semiconductor has awarded Brooks a multimillion-dollar contract for large-scale deployment of Brooks’ fault detection software at Powerchip’s new 300mm-chip factories.

The Brooks fault detection software applies statistical process control methodology to key process parameters, enabling the system to detect early warning indicators and issue alarms as necessary. Powerchip operators can set limits so that alarms are issued before the process has drifted outside acceptable boundaries, allowing corrections to be made before product is potentially lost.

Brooks Software is a division of Brooks Automation, which has operations in North America, Europe and Asia. Brooks Automation reported sales revenue of $343.6 million in 2003, and employs approximately 2,000 workers worldwide.
