Durable goods orders drop

Durable goods orders in the United States dropped in August, including a dive in civilian aircraft orders, the US Department of Commerce reported today.
Overall orders for expensive items meant to last at least three years dropped 0.5 percent after a gain of 1.8 percent in July, the Department said.
Orders for civilian aircraft fell a significant 42.8 percent after spiking 103.6 percent in July. Computer and electronic product orders jumped 4.1 percent after dropping 4.3 percent the previous month.
