Parker Hannefin becomes Boeing 7E7 supplier

Boeing announced that it has selected Parker Hannifin as the hydraulic subsystem supplier for the 7E7 Dreamliner passenger airplane.

"We are delighted to be part of this exciting program," said Parker Hannifin President and Chief Executive Officer Don Washkewicz. "The Dreamliner will revolutionize the airline industry in its use of lightweight composites and other innovative materials and technologies."

The 7E7's hydraulic system will operate at 5,000 pounds per square inch compared to the typical commercial aircraft pressure of 3,000 psi. That greater pressure permits the use of smaller equipment, reducing the subsystem's weight and contributing to the 7E7's improved efficiency.

Parker Hannefin employs more than 47,000 people in 44 countries. Parker Aerospace, an operating group of Parker Hannifin, designs, manufactures and services hydraulic, fuel, and pneumatic components, systems, and related electronic controls for aerospace and other high-technology markets.
