Due to a variety of safety concerns, three major vehicle manufacturers are recalling motorcycles and SUVs. Included is the already embattled Mitsubishi Motors Corp.
According to the National Highway Traffic Administration, Yamaha, Mitsubishi Motors, and Chrysler have announced recalls to address safety issues. The North American division of problem-plagued Mitsubishi may be the hardest hit. Mitsubishi has seen a drastic drop off in sales after a 2000 scandal involving safety defect cover ups.
Mitsubishi announced that it was recalling 65,436 of its Endeavor sport utility vehicles built between 2004 and 2005 due to parking brake failure.Yamaha, the world’s second largest motorcycle company, will recall 190,000 motorcycles because passenger seats could fall off the rear fender. Model years run from 1996 to 2005 and include the Yamaha XV250, XVS11 and XVS65. Chrysler is recalling 43,180 of its 2005 Pacifica SUVs because some may experience intermittent or eventual total failure of their halogen headlamps.
