The Gillette Company has rededicated their Boston facility and laid plans for company and local investment.
Marking the 100th anniversary of their World Shaving Headquarters in South Boston, MA, The Gillette Company has announced plans to invest $200 million over the next three years in new equipment and manufacturing processes at the facility.
The announcement may come as some relief to employees and local lawmakers who have been uncertain as to Gillette’s future after an announced agreement by Procter & Gamble to acquire the company.
Gillette executives have also proposed additional funding to local philanthropic and community groups. In addition to its regular annual contributions to the South Boston community, Gillette will provide incremental funding of $500,000 over the next three to five years to combat drug use. Gillette will also increase its corporate contribution to the United Way from $750,000 in 2005, to $1 million in 2006.
